Cyta has acquired the LCA1 data center from Simplex, a significant move to enhance Cyprus’ position as a regional digital hub. Located in Larnaca, LCA1 is the island’s largest privately owned data center, built to Tier III standards with nearly 1,000 square meters of space and close to 1 megawatt of power capacity.
LCA1 meets multiple international standards, holding certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and EMAS. It is also a signatory of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable operations.
Cyta CEO, Andreas Neocleous, noted, “This acquisition is not just an investment in technology; it is a statement of intent. We want Cyprus to have control of its digital infrastructure and sovereignty over its data.”
He added that the move supports the organization’s wider strategy to offer services faster, while working “in full alignment and collaboration with the State and all stakeholders to build a digital, technologically advanced Cyprus, a progress that concerns and includes everyone.”

The purchase is part of Cyta’s broader vision to expand its high-availability services and support regional connectivity, aligning closely with national goals. The organization continues to grow its proprietary submarine cable network and plans to build a new green data center, further cementing Cyprus’ role in regional data flows.
Simplex Founder and CEO, Michalis Omirou, welcomed the transition, highlighting Cyta as the ideal successor to advance the center’s mission. “After 20 years, the time has come for Simplex to move on to its next day and Cyta is the ideal partner for this,” Omirou said.
He added that the acquisition ensures continued innovation and service excellence for existing and future clients while contributing to Cyprus’ emergence as a leading regional tech hub.
The deal signals a unified effort between the private and public sectors to drive digital progress and infrastructure resilience across the eastern Mediterranean.
