NetIX Boosts Europe–Latin America Connectivity via EllaLink

NetIX EllaLink

NetIX has expanded its capacity on the EllaLink submarine cable, adding 100 Gbps to strengthen further direct, low-latency connectivity between Europe and Latin America. This upgrade underscores NetIX’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for high-capacity, high-performance data routes that avoid traditional transatlantic paths through North America.

The EllaLink system directly connects major data hubs in Lisbon, Madrid, Marseille, and São Paulo, offering the shortest and fastest route between the two continents. By bypassing North America, the cable significantly reduces latency and enhances digital experiences for users across both regions.

This latest capacity expansion will allow NetIX members to access Latin American markets more efficiently. Thanks to an ultra-low-latency infrastructure that provides a resilient and diverse alternative to more congested routes, this expansion ensures seamless scalability through NetIX’s flexible service model, which allows for easy integration via a single port and contract.

NetIX, part of the Neterra Group, was one of the first global networks to secure capacity on EllaLink when it launched in 2022. The 5,800-mile (9,334-kilometer) subsea cable was designed to improve connectivity between Europe and Brazil, cutting round-trip latency by up to 50%. Since then, the cable has eliminated the need for data traffic to detour through North America, offering a faster and more direct digital highway for content and cloud services.

The newly added 100 Gbps circuit is already live and available to customers. Dean Belev, Vice President of Connectivity Services at NetIX, noted a substantial uptick in traffic across EllaLink, particularly from carriers and digital platforms seeking more efficient entry points into Latin America.

“Adding this new 100 Gbps circuit allows us to maintain excellent service quality, reduce congestion risks, and give our members room to grow across this important corridor,” Belev said.
