Dialog Axiata Launches IAX Subsea Cable System

IAX and Subsea Cable System

Dialog Axiata PLC (Dialog), Sri Lanka’s leading connectivity provider, has launched the IAX (India-Asia-Xpress) submarine cable system, enhancing Sri Lanka’s global connectivity.

This builds on Sri Lanka’s USD 100 million international connectivity infrastructure investment to strengthen the country’s global connectivity by delivering high-speed, high-capacity bandwidth to its internet users. The official launch event took place at the Dialog IAX Submarine Cable Landing Station in Matara.

The IAX cable system connects Mumbai and Chennai, India, to Singapore and interconnects with the India-Europe-Xpress (IEX) cable in Mumbai, India, reaching the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. IAX features 12 landing stations across five nations, including Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia, alongside the main route stretching from Tuas, Singapore, to Mumbai, India. This connection strengthens Sri Lanka’s global connectivity, supporting the growing demand for 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and other advanced data services.

By complementing the existing BBG (Bay of Bengal Gateway) and MSC (Maldives Sri Lanka Cable) systems, the IAX cable strengthens network reliability, mitigating risks associated with single points of failure. Furthermore, Dialog’s advanced cable landing stations (CLS) in Matara and Mount Lavinia ensure seamless, uninterrupted connectivity, offering businesses and consumers a more secure and robust digital experience.
